I was very excited when I was contacted by BRUUtea the Gourmet Tea Club to see if I would be interested in sampling some of their loose leaf tea and write a blog about it; no reason to not agree as I love to try new and different teas. BRUUtea is a gourmet tea club where they send customers a box of different loose leaf teas every month, a great idea to be able to try lots of different teas without buying huge amounts. You only add 1 teaspoon into your teapot.
The 3 different teas came packaged in a cardboard box that fits through your letterbox, perfect!
Tea 1 – Sweet Vanilla Black Tea – the aroma of vanilla hits you as soon as you open the packet, not overwhelming though. Left the tea to brew for 3 minutes – I don’t like strong black tea so was interested to see what it would taste like with the vanilla. You can still smell the vanilla when the tea was poured. It definitely makes an interesting drink, it was sweet and quite unusual if not used to drinking sweet tea but does leave a nice taste of vanilla in your mouth. I probably would not want to drink a lot of this tea but can see it being a good cuppa as part of an afternoon tea. Actually as I drank more I realised it was not as sweet and counteracts the bitterness of black tea.
Tea 2 – We Love Mango Green Tea – as soon as I opened the packet the smell of mango was just lovely. This tea is not brewed for long, only 30 seconds, so looked very weak on pouring but it did not lack in flavour at all. The smell of mango definitely was in the air. It has got a tropical taste, is light and very refreshing, perfect for a warm sunny afternoon.
Tea 3 – Rose Amour Black Tea – again the same as the other 2 teas above, the smell of rose was very noticeable. I was a bit apprehensive about trying this tea as I am not into ‘rose’ flavoured things. The tea is brewed for 2/3 minutes. It is a perfumed tea and could be off putting. I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the taste and didn’t find the rose too overpowering. I have to say that it goes very well with chocolate as I just happened to have some left over rolo heart-shaped brownies!
If any of my guests of the secret tea room are interested in trying lots of different teas, then I have a special discount code that can be used so happy brewing everyone!
