It is interesting how new ideas or ventures pop into your mind and when you run your own business I think you are always looking for different ways to reinvent what you offer. Well, I think I may have stumbled along a new venture for Rachael’s Secret Tea Room….
It initially goes back to last November when I gave the present of a baking lesson to a friend’s daughter as she loves to bake and wasn’t sure what else to buy a 13 year old! Her lesson took place last week during February half term as it was the first time we could get together. I found some great recipes that I knew she would love, namely using chocolate, so tested both bakes in advance of her coming along and was impressed with the results. So we made triple chocolate macarons and salted caramel twix brownies – the macarons are quite a long process due to having to let them dry out before you bake them but the brownies were soon made. We chatted along as we baked and I offered any tips along the way. More importantly, she got to take the bakes home with her which I understand were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who tried them, success!
A week later and plans are underway to possibly offer baking lessons for up to 2 children (aged 10 and over) either here or in their own home so they get to learn new skills with plenty of hands on baking and of course the final taste test! It doesn’t stop there as thinking even wider about offering baking parties for up to groups of 10 children (aged 8 and over). More details to follow….exciting!
Look out for a further post in the next week or so.
